Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

"Have you guessed the riddle yet?" the Hatter said, turning to Alice again.
"No, I give it up," Alice replied. "What's the answer?"
"I haven't the slightest idea," said the Hatter.
"Nor I," said the March Hare.
Alice sighed wearily. "I think you might do something better with the time," she said, "than wasting it in asking riddles that have no answers."

YAY a post that isnt moaning or whinging!
Well tonight I went to see :

In IMAX 3D. And well... just WOW.
The Mad Hatter: There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.
[picks up his hat]
The Mad Hatter: Which luckily I am.
I thought that I wouldnt like it, that it would be a disappointment. After all, I absloutley adore anything made by Tim burton, he has a wicked imagination and I would love to meet him one day. Johnny Depp, *sigh* I have loved him since Edward scissor hands. And Helen Boman Carter, well she plays a wonderful Bellatrix, but she just goes so well with Johnny (look at Sweeny Todd) And tim Burton, look at his past history, Edward scissor hands, Beetlejuice, Nightmare before christmas, Corpse Bride, Batman, Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the chocolate factory (though I prefer the original, but its nostalgia thing) and Ed Wood, plus his book on the mechonlia death of Oyster boy.)

But it was everything I had hoped and more! The characters where perfect. You couldnt have gotten more suited actors. The costumes where bright and magical the makeup just stood out (except for the stupid white queen who had black eyebrows. They really should have been covered.)

The Red Queen: I need a pig here!
[Live pig is slid under her feet]
The Red Queen: I love a warm pig belly for my aching feet.
[Mad Hatter chuckles]
The Red Queen: Stop that!
[He does

I like that cinemas are finally using 3D to a decent effect. When it first came out it was overdone with things flying at you all the time, but now, now it just enhances the view and makes you feel part of the scene. Although everything I have seen on IMAX has amazed. Its so much bigger and clearer. And the sound quality is much clearer and louder. I often find I miss big chunks of dialogue in films when the camera isnt directly on the face of the person speaking, but I hear it all in IMAX.

The Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad?
[Alice checks Hatter's temperature]
Alice Kingsley: I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
At parts I had to stop myself reaching out to stroke the Cheshire cat. Dont get me wrong, I love disney animation but there cat was a garish pink with pink strips. But the new one looked pretty real (well apart from having turquoise stripes)

My favorite bit was probably when the hatter gets up and literally walks down the table, breaking everything on his way, picks up Alice and walks back along the table. (I do love Johnny Depp) Oh and Knave really did remind me a lot of Edward Scissor hands.

I of course new the story of Alice in wonderland, but I also had memories of having to create costumes, props and the act out the story of the jaberwocky, but I was never sure where he fitted into the story.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
  The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
  And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
  And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
  The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
  He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
  He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
  Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
  And the mome raths outgrabe.

Its surprising how familure it all still sounds, like I can hear my 11 year old self narrating the words and brandishing  my ruler covered in tin foil. Ah to be 11 again.

It was a little odd hearing snapes (from harry potter) speaking from a caterpillar. I do love Alan rickman as Snape, but his voice is so dinstictive, they way he drones and then pauses, he cant really do much else with voice like some actors and so he is easily recognizable just from listening. I think this inhibits and to be he will always be Snape.

Anyway, loved it!! Cant wait to see it again. Hope they bring out a 3d version on DVD.

The Mad Hatter: Your carriage, my lady.
Alice Kingsley: A hat?
The Mad Hatter: Of course. Anyone can go by horse or rail, but the absolute best way to travel is by hat. Have I made a rhyme
